29/12/2016 0 Comments DK linen yarn on offer.Just a reminder that we are discontinuing the DK weight in order to concentrate on the Sport/4-ply weight in our hand-dyed linen yarn. Consequently, we are selling all our 100g hanks at only £10 each until they are gone.

29/12/2016 0 Comments Canary hand-dyed linen sport yarnThe latest addition to our hand-dyed sport linen yarn is Canary, a very pale yellow with subtle variations in shade. It already exists in the DK weight but we decided to include it in the Sport weight aswell.
7/11/2016 0 Comments Powder Pink23/10/2016 0 Comments New additionsRecent new additions to our range include a new colour in the 4-ply/sport weight: Fruit Salad. A blend of juicy pink and tangerine orange. We now also supply natural linen (undyed and unbleached) DK weight in 100g hanks. This has a much rougher and more rustic feel than the hand-dyed yarns.
25/9/2016 0 Comments Linen spa mitt We have just released a new pattern for a linen spa mitt, now available in our shop.
This is a very easy knit and will make a great gift, or keep it for yourself! Linen is ideal for spa cloths, given its healthy, eco-friendly, natural properties. This pattern is free (with coupon code) when purchased with eco-stitch linen yarn (limited time only). 11/9/2016 0 Comments LINEN DK YARN PRICE DROPAs you probably already know, we currently supply our hand-dyed yarn in 2 weights: DK and 4-ply/sport.
These 2 weights are very similar in gauge, and we have decided for the moment to concentrate our future efforts on just the one weight: the 4-ply sport weight. Consequently, we will be discontinuing the DK weight until further notice. We may decide to re-introduce it if a significant number of customers request us to do so. We have therefore dropped the price of the DK to only £10 per 100g hank. We will not replace the colours available in DK, so when they are gone, they are gone! We will continue to develop new colours in our 4-ply Sport weight. 11/9/2016 0 Comments Cheshire Fibre FestivalThe Cheshire Fibre Festival will take place on Saturday Oct. 1st at Marthall Village Hall near Knutsford, WA16 7SB, 10am - 4pm.

Our top quality linen is sourced from Europe and comes from just across the Channel. Unfortunately, when it arrives, it isn't already wound in to neat hanks. We have to wind each of our skeins ourselves before dyeing them. Winding them one by one was just not an option. We needed something that would do several at once. So it was off to the drawing board, and here is what we came up with. OK, it's not perfect, but I'm really proud of our winder. It is the result of a true family team effort. My father and I designed it and started to put it together, and my husband helped us to modify the design to make it more functional and finished off the assembling of the various parts. It is hand-made using wood and perspex. It might look like some weird contraption out of a Heath Robinson book, but IT WORKS.
21/6/2016 0 Comments Hint of Twist Linen SweaterMy latest project is a long-sleeved linen sweater knitted with our sport weight linen yarn. The colour is ocean green (soon to be available in our shop) and it took 400g. It is an extremely simple design in plain stockinette with just a subtle hint of a cable running down the middle of the back and front. It features dropped shoulders and the back falls longer than the front,
16/5/2016 0 Comments Linen twist spa cloth We have issued a new pattern which is ideal for giving linen a try. This spa cloth can be made using a mini-skein of hand-dyed yarn, or you can make 2 with a solid dk 50g skein. If you are feeling more adventurous, a hand-dyed 100g hank will make 3 in DK or 4 in Sport weight. I must admit that this pattern is quite addictive. It is a simple knit and easy to memorise. Linen is an ideal fibre for spa cloths, since it is naturally exfoliating, as well as anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and hypo-allergenic. Our linen can be washed in the machine on a gentle cycle (eg wool cycle) with a gentle detergent. The linen itself doesn't mind repeated hot washes, but we recommend a gentle cycle in order to preserve the colours. The pattern is FREE when you purchase our linen yarn. See the pattern page for the coupon code (offer available until 1/11/2016) Our natural linen yarn (50g skein) has a rougher, more rustic feel than the dyed linen yarn.
It has the characteristic sliver beige colour of natural, undyed linen. 1/5/2016 0 Comments New linen yarn.As mentioned in our earlier blog post, we now have a range of pre-dyed solid colours to complement our range of hand-dyed semi-solid and variegated linen yarn. These come in 50g skeins and are roughly a DK weight, with 100m per 50g and they are very competitively priced. I find it knits nicely on 4mm needles and crochets on a 3.5mm hook. This being said, you can go up or down in needle size, depending on how tight or loose a stitch you prefer. Linen yarn is quite versatile on gauge. New pricing policy. We also have a new pricing policy across our website. We really want linen to be accessible to all crafters, and so we have levelled off our prices on the hand-dyed yarn. At the same time, it remains more expensive than the pre-dyed yarn, for the obvious reason that there is so much work involved in the dyeing process. We hope to be able to maintain these prices for the foreseeable future.
18/4/2016 0 Comments Coming soon.....solid colours We will soon be adding solid colours to our product range. These will come in DK weight 50g skeins. They are pre-dyed 100% linen.
Here is a sneak preview of our first available colour: Cappuccino shown here with the Tangerine and Vanilla hand-dyed yarns. 9/4/2016 0 Comments Yarn dyeingNow the days are longer and there is better light, the conditions are finally more conducive to dyeing yarn. Here is our Spring yarn at various stages of dyeing. The Spring colour way can be found in our shop here. Also available as a mini skein.
Forgot to add that our mini skeins are also included in the current promotion so they are 16% cheaper at the moment.
2/4/2016 0 Comments MINI SKEINS of linen yarnsNever tried knitting or crochet with linen yarn before?
Why not try a small project with our new mini skeins? Mini skeins are ideal for trying out a new yarn or for projects which require small quantities of several different colours. These small skeins weigh 32-33g each (each one is the equivalent to a third of a large 100g skein). There is enough yarn to knit a small spa cloth. There are some patterns in our pattern section. We have only shown a few select colours in the mini skein option for the moment. If you see a colour that you would like in the 32-33g option, please send us a message and we will add it if we can. 4/3/2016 0 Comments Lagoon Shallows KnitAlongCome and join the fun in the Lagoon Shallows KAL run by KnitEcoChic on Ravelry. I had the privilege of test knitting the Lagoon Shallows pattern for Lindsay who designed it.
You can read my project notes on Ravelry here. The cowl took 2 skeins of Lilac Mist DK linen. I knitted the large size which can be worn long or doubled up. All our yarns at eco-stitch are reduced by 16% across the website for the rest of February and until the end of March.
Take advantage of this discount to stock up for your warm season knitting/crochet projects. 4/2/2016 0 Comments French Navy and BlissTwo new colours available in 4-ply/sport linen. French Navy and Bliss.
Why not combine them both in your next project? 25/1/2016 0 Comments Mulberry Linen CurlI had never heard of "curls" until my son bought me the book of the same name by Hunter Hammersen as a Christmas present. A curl is a triangular shaped scarf/shawl which, due to its ingenious construction, curls round at the pointed end. There are various ways of wearing this versatile accessory. You can make a curl as big or as small as you like. I decided to stop knitting at just over 2 skeins of DK linen yarn (Mulberry).
Here is the result. |
