Colour gradient linen scarf
Pattern overview. The scarf requires 200g of eco-stitch sport weight/4-ply linen gradient colour blanks. Needle size 3.75mm (US 5) Gauge in stocking stitch: 22 stitches and 28 rows/10cm Finished measurements (washed): 1m73 (68") long approx, 24cm wide (9.5"). Stitches used: Stocking stitch (knit row, purl row) Woven stitch for ends (see photo below) Eyelet stitch Woven stitch instructions (4 rows) Row 1: [k1, sl1with yarn in front] Repeat between brackets until last remaining stitch, k1 Row 2: purl Row 3: [sl1with yarn in front, k1] Repeat until last remaining stitch, k1 Row 4: purl Eyelet stitch instructions (2 rows) Row 1: K4 [yo, k2tog k2] Repeat between brackets until last remaining stitch, k1. The scarf in the photos took slightly more than 200g, so to make adjustments for the pattern to take under 200g I have taken off a few rows and the first row of eyelets will actually be closer to the cast-on row than in the photo. |
This particular scarf was knitted with a new gradient linen yarn from pre-dyed, pre-knitted blanks (2 x 105g blanks). These gradient colour blanks will soon be available in our shop.
It can be knitted using 2 x 100 hanks of semi-solid yarn for a slightly mottled look, or with multi-coloured yarn for a more variegated look.
PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS
Cast on 57 stitches using 3.75mm needles.
Knit 4 rows in woven stitch (see above).
Knit next 24 rows in stocking stitch.
Knit 2 rows of eyelet stitch (see above)
Total 30 rows so far.
[Knit 48 rows stocking stitch.
Knit 2 rows eyelet stitch.]
Repeat between brackets 7 more times.
Total 430 rows so far.
Knit next 24 rows in stocking stitch.
Knit last 4 rows in woven stitch.
Total 458 rows.
Cast off loosely.
